A very warm welcome from the Parish of Finchampstead and California!

Welcome to our parish web site. In these challenging times we want to reassure you that even if our buildings are shut for the time being, we are still together as the body of Christ and that the work of that body continues through prayer and technology even if we cannot physically meet.

So how are we keeping in touch?

  • Everyone on our database should be getting a weekly call. E-mail the parish office : [email protected] if you haven’t received one or know of someone who would like one
  • By streaming weekly services on our Facebook page and YouTube channel as follows:
    9.30am Family Service
    11.00am Parish Communion
  • By e-mailing resources for every Sunday and for Morning Prayer during the week.  Click here to view these resources.
  • Through a weekly themed worship and activity video for families with children every Tuesday on our Facebook page

How can you help us?

  • If you’re visiting us for the first time e-mail the parish office : [email protected]
  • Let us know if someone needs our help – call 0118 973 0133
  • Subscribe to our YouTube channel which is free of charge, so that we can live-stream directly onto that. We need 1,000 subscribers to do this.
  • Support the local Foodbank through donating online https://crowthorne.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-money/ or sending a cheque to Crowthorne Foodbank, 25 Wellington Business Park, Duke’s Ride, Crowthorne RG45 6LS
  • Through prayer.
If possible join Christians throughout the world daily at 11.00am to say Psalm 23 and the Lord’s Prayer. You could also use the simple prayer below:

God our Father, we place before you the Covid19 disease afflicting our world at this time.
We turn to you in our time of need.
    Bring wisdom to doctors.
    Give understanding to scientists.
Endow caregivers with compassion and generosity.
Bring healing to those who are ill.
Protect those who are most at risk.
Give comfort to those who have lost a loved one.
Welcome those who have died into your eternal home.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen

If you would like to download a prayer-sheet please click here.
If you want to send us a prayer request please e-mail the parish office : [email protected] or contribute to the Prayer Request post on our Facebook page

Most of all please be reassured that as ever we will hold everyone in our prayers and also know how much we look forward to the time when we can meet again in our worship centres when the storm has passed.

We now also have this fabulous aerial video of St James’ Church and its surroundings thanks to Steve Powers who took this video using his small “quadcopter” with mounted high definition video camera…

This is purely a hobby for Steve but you can see further examples of his aerial filming at http://aerial.spowers.co.uk/
